Poultry Products Northeast MFP Testimonial

Poultry Products Northeast (PPNE) is one of the largest food and provisions wholesale suppliers in the Northeast. They’re a supply chain leader within the food industry, operating three regional distribution centers and a USDA-inspected Processing Facility where they receive poultry, beef, pork, lamb, seafood and provisions. They supply an array of customers including restaurants, supermarkets and other institutions. PPNE currently has 300 employees in Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut and serves approximately 1,000 customers from 6 different states.

Advanced Technology

We had the opportunity to speak with David Rix, Chief Information Officer at PPNE. Looking for ways to improve efficiency and communication, Rix welcomed Dan, his Formax Sales Executive, when he stopped in at PPNE one afternoon.

“Dan walked in on the right day,” Rix laughed. “We were not happy with our old machines and Dan helped us get out of our lease with our existing supplier.” Now PPNE has a standardized line of Copiers/MFPs all throughout their locations. “We have 16 altogether which feed into our PaperCut System,” Rix said. PaperCut is a print management software that automatically monitors and manages printing, giving the company control over costs and environmental impact.

In conjunction with PaperCut, PPNE also implemented RF IDeas pcPro® Card Reader to eliminate manual ID entry and provide error-free identification and security throughout the company. Rix explained that as an added benefit, the same employee badge can be used for RF IDeas as well as the scan system they use to access the front door.

The MFPs have been the centerpiece for many functions at PPNE. “We use the printers for everything,” Rix said, “customer facing invoices, statements, internal critical documents and product ads. The machines have been phenomenally user friendly.” PPNE employees have been using the scan-to-email feature and the HDD File Retrieve System. “An employee can send a file to the queue and print from any machine!” Rix added.

Enhanced Communication

PPNE now has 2 Aquos Interactive Whiteboards. They use them for weekly sales meetings between 3 locations. “We used to cluster around the speaker phone. Now we’ve started using the whiteboards for video conferencing,” Rix said. In addition, they use them for food show demonstrations, interactive quizzes for customers to touch and play, and to train all the employees on their new accounting software.

Improved Mailing Process

PPNE has also upgraded their mailing equipment. “The mailing system we were using prior to Formax was expensive and slow,” Rix said. “We had a very old folding machine. When we put the paper in, it would fold a few pieces, then get stuck.” Each week PPNE mails up to 600 statements and invoices. With their new Formax folder/inserter and meter system, their process is smoother and more efficient.

Service You Can Count On

“What I was most excited about when we switched to Formax was the service. It’s local and when we call, someone shows up really quick,” Rix said. “I’ve recommended Formax to several people because we’ve never had such great service.”

PPNE has utilized everything that Formax has to offer, from reliable equipment for their mailing, image and document needs, to superb local service!
