Case Study – Granite State Glass Chooses Formax Direct for Quality and Service

For more than 35 years, Granite State Glass has served the glass needs of commercial, residential and automotive customers throughout New England. They know what it means to provide quality products and top-notch service.

When they decided to upgrade their office equipment, they looked for a company to provide the same level of quality and service. The choice was clear: Sharp MFPs and Neopost Mailing Machines from Formax Direct.

We visited their Gilford, NH, headquarters and spoke with David Ryan, VP of Sales and Marketing, and Patrick Marcotte, Controller, to see how they’ve integrated these products into various departments and their retail showroom.

Document scanning provides off-site access to critical information
The accounting department uses a Sharp MX-3070 MFP, which features a dual-head document feeder. This allows them to scan 2-sided documents in a single pass.

Patrick said he utilizes the scan feature to store digital images of invoices, packing lists and POs. “I work all over the place,” he said, “so it’s nice to just pull up an invoice remotely and get the information I need, instead of digging through the filing cabinet.”

The estimating and engineering staff work directly with architects and engineers to create project quotes. Using the Sharp MX-3070, they can easily print full-color drawings and specs, up to 11” x 17”, with a volume of up to 150,000 prints per year.

“We have no complaints,” Patrick said. “The MX-3070 doesn’t jam and has more features than you’d ever need.” During installation, their Formax Account Rep programmed the home screens on each MFP with frequently used functions, including scan-to-email, 2-sided scan, and 2-sided copy, so users can access these with a single press of the touchscreen.

In addition to the customizable, full-color touchscreen, some staff prefer the convenience of the full-size retractable keyboard.

Neopost IN-600 brings welcome relief from hand feeding envelopes
The Neopost IN-600 Mail Machine has truly streamlined the workflow in their accounting department. Mailing about 800 statements a month, with varying pages and weights, they used to hand feed them one-by-one through their old postage meter.

With the IN-600, they simply place the stack of envelopes on the meter, enter the postage amount, and it feeds them automatically. Plus, they said it seals much better than their old machine, which allows them to load unsealed envelopes, eliminating another time-consuming step.

The Key Factors: Quality and Service
Both men said price is obviously a factor, but the two key reasons for choosing Formax Direct were quality and service. They said their prior service provider could take 2 or more days to get a machine back up and running, especially when spare parts were needed.

Patrick said, “Equipment service is essential. At our retail showroom in Concord, you can’t have the printer down and tell the customer, ‘sorry, we can’t print a receipt or invoice for you.’” They’ve been impressed with the quick response of the Formax Direct service department.

With Sharp and Neopost products from Formax Direct, Granite State Glass is poised for even greater success in providing glass products to their customers, now and into the future.
